All about the Wiggly Creatures

What are Wiggly Creatures? Well, they're figurines, cartoon characters and animals - we call them creatures - that wiggle. Simple really! At only an inch or two in size, they're a marvel in miniature.

All sorts of materials are used in Wiggly Creatures, but at the heart of each one is a hollow Pistachio Nut. The wiggly bits - arms, legs, heads, tails, or whatever - are made from small pieces of bamboo, suspended and counterbalanced by tiny wires.

Each creature is individually assembled with great skill, balancing the wiggly bits being particularly difficult, and mounted on small magnets. They are then hand-painted to faithfully reproduce the colours of the original model.

With the advent of plastics and mass-production, this unique and ancient art almost disappeared. We have revived and updated this craft to create an expanding range of Wiggly Creatures, from British and Australian animals, birds and insects to marine life and even cartoon and movie characters.

As well as the creatures themselves, we also supply wooden display stands made specifically for our range. At the moment we have two styles, whole slices of tree branches and multi-tier stands, in various sizes.
